Bruce hopes to get Zaki Tied up

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has revealed that he is hoping to get Egypt and Latics striker Amr Zaki on a permanent deal at the JJB as soon as possible

Zaki has started his career at Wigan in great style and he is currently the leading goal scorer in the Premier League and Bruce knows that he is gaining attention from the big clubs, Bruce told reporters:

"We're in pole position to sign the lad because he's here at the moment but it's a double-edged sword - the better he does here, the more expensive he will be.'

'There is an agreement in principle with his club, lets see what happens"

Bruce says that the gamble he took to bring the Egyptian to England is paying dividends but he always had faith in Zaki to do well, he said:

'I've got to say Zaki has started better than we thought he would'

'We brought him here because we thought he could make an impact and we're delighted because he's certainly done that.

'There's a long way to go yet, a long winter ahead. Hopefully he'll continue how he has been doing.'

Vital Latics believe that the deal to secure Zaki could be done as early as December but it depends on a few problems being sorted out, lets hope that these are ironed out and Zaki will become a true Wiganer.
