'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bruce Cant Wait to Get Boro Out the System

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce isn`t liking the international break following the defeat by Middlesbrough at the JJB last week, its giving him too long a period to agonise over the result, he told reporters:

'I've got to admit it was agony losing to Middlesbrough last week - it's never nice suffering a defeat and having two weeks to mull over it.

'I can't hide the fact that the performance was good against Boro, but we've all been there, sometimes in football you don't get what you deserve. Boro were probably thinking the same thing happened to them the week before against West Bromwich Albion."

Bruce believes that the Latics could and should have won the game and one reason why they didn`t was not pressing home the advantage when we were well on top in the first half, Bruce said:

'We needed to score in the first half when we were playing well. Had we done that, the game would have had a different complexion.

'They would have had to come out and attack us more, whereas they set their stall out against us and played one up front

'I suppose it's testimony to us that teams have started to do that"

Looking ahead to Latics next game at Anfield against Liverpool Bruce is worrying about what state his squad will be in following the current round of international matches and he is hoping that they will all arrive home to the JJB safe and sound without any injuries, he continued:

'Now it's a case of keeping our fingers crossed that we get everyone back in one piece from international duty.

'These international breaks always worry me. I won't see most of the players until Thursday, some of them only on Friday.

'We've not got the easiest of matches next, Liverpool away... they say there are no easy games in the Premier League, and this one certainly isn't.'

What a way to get the Boro defeat out of the system with a win at Liverpool, bring it on.

Lets hope that they all return back without any injuries, and Hendry Thomas just might come along with his work permit ;)
