Heskey`s Top Four Ambition

Heskey`s Top Four Ambition

Wigan Athletic and England front man Emile Heskey says he is ambitious to continue playing on the international stage and also wants to be playing Champions League football.

Heskey knows that with his contract due to expire with the Latics in June 2009 that he is in a strong position as far as offers from other clubs are concerned, he said:

'Everyone wants to be playing on these stages and for their club in the Champions League.

'It`s a nice situation that I`m in, but I`m still a Wigan player and I want to do my best for them.`

Liverpool are the latest club to be linked with Heskey and they join Spurs and Aston Villa who both reportedly bid for the big man on transfer deadline day.

Meanwhile Heskey spoke about his performances alongside Manchester United player Wayne Rooney and the thrill at being back in the England team, he said:

'We are trying to get that understanding. On the training pitch we try to work on bits and pieces together and it is paying off.

'We enjoy playing together. We enjoy playing football and you can see it with Wayne when he is out there — he puts 100 per cent in.

'By starting the last few games you begin to feel part of the team, but you never know what is going to happen.'

Keep on doing what you are Heskey and stay where you are appreciated at the Latics

Cant see Heskey signing a new deal with us, he looks like he's after one last big pay day

Yes, but I suspect he's genuine about making his mark on the Champion's league - even if we gave him a massive offer, I doubt he'd stay. The question is, well we offload him in January when we can get paid for him? I hope we don't.

I think he's hinting that he's waiting for a top 4 team to come in for him, as well as Aston Villa. Otherwise he'll stay
