Amr Zaki - Man of the Match at Anfield

Amr Zaki - Man of the Match at Anfield

Wigan Athletic striker Amr Zaki was voted the Man of the Match in yesterdays game against Liverpool by voters on Vital Wigan, he was also named Man of the Match in just about every media circle following his sensational performance.

Zaki scored two goals in the game, the first one he pounced when Liverpool defender Daniel Agger tried to play his way out of defence and the second goal was an absolute belter, getting on the end of a Valencia cross with a superb flying volley.

The way that Zaki led Latics front line also caught the eye, considering that he is still carrying an injury and hasn`t trained for nearly two weeks is testament to the guys heart and desire to do well at the Latics

Fantastic performance from a fantastic player well done Amr.

For the record the voting was:

Amr Zaki - 98%
Wilson Palacios - 1%
Daniel DeRidder - 1%

The new poll centres around Valencia and his sending off, Latics boss Steve Bruce and Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez have two opposing points of view on how it affected the game with Bruce saying it cost us the game and Benitez saying it made no difference.

What do you think?

Did the sending off of Antonio Valencia cost Latics the game?

The poll is situated on the right side of this page and it is very easy to take part, just choose your option and click submit, it is that simple.

Well done Amr, again. How can Benitez say that Valencias sending off had no influence on the game?

Slightly off-topic but I completely agree with the following: "Something has to be done about this substandard referring. Dossena could have been red carded in the first half and Valencia shouldnt have received two yellow cards." I can't comment on Doseena cos I didn't see that challenge but Valencia shouldn't have been booked for the first one but the second one should have been a straight red. A quick word on Zaki, the guy is amazing and if he plays like this all season, he's gonna be a £20 million man.

This guy is phanominal, he is World class no doubt. Any club in the world would love to have him playing for them. For the goal he was walking away and facing away from goal WOW

Latics v QPR - Big Game Preview

An important game at the DW Stadium tomorrow for the Latics, Gary Caldwell will be hoping to banish the disappointment of conceding a 93 minute goal away at Forest last Saturday that saw a point slip away after coming from behind three times in the game.

QPR are in town, they aren't quite the multi-millionaires that they were the last time that we met, that was in the play off semi-final in 2014, but they do have a squad with lots of quality and will certainly pose a threat.
