'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bruce Says No More Zaki Interviews

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has closed down the media access to Egyptian ace Amr Zaki in a bid to relieve some of the pressure on him as he finds himself the hottest property in world football at the moment.

Bruce says there is a media circus around Zaki and that it is starting to distract from what he gets paid to do, play football for Wigan Athletic, Bruce told reporters:

'For a club like ours, I've never known anything like the attention. From all around the world and all the Arab states, everyone wants him'

'They all want a piece of him because there aren't many Egyptians playing in this league so he's a bit of an icon at the minute.

'But now I'm shutting down on him. I think it's too much and he's being distracted. So that's it. We've got to stop because every day a film crew or magazine wants him.

'There's a bit of a circus gathering around him, so we're going to knock all that on the head now.'

'To be top scorer in the Premier League after a quarter of a season, I think people can see he's different'

'There is nothing like hunger and he is desperate to do well. To prove it straight away. And he'll do everything he can in his power to prove himself.

'I just detect that he's tired with it all already and he doesn't want to do it anymore.

'He's fed up with it, so we're just going to protect him and let people enjoy watching him play.'
