'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wigan Athletic Al Qahtani full of Eastern Promise

Wigan Athletic are still being linked with a move for Saudi Arabian superstar Yasser Al Qahtani according to reports circulating around the Gulf.

At the launch of 'The Face of Gillette in the Middle East` campaign Al Qahtani was questioned by reporters about the speculation and he was quite frank with his answers, he told them:

"I am quite eager and anxious to join a European league. I think it is the dream of every player to play at the top level to improve his skills

"I like the idea of playing with Amr Zaki and I hope that a deal can happen, I am open to a move. If there is a good contract, then there is no problem

'My ultimate ambition is to play in the Premier League."

The Al Hilal star turned down a move to Manchester City last year because he felt that the contract wasn`t right for him so it may take a big offer for the Latics to get their man.

Al Qahtani is the record transfer between two Saudi clubs when he moved from Al-Qadisiya to his present club Al Hilal in 2005 for a reported sum somewhere between $5.3 million US and $10 million US.

There is a lot of interest back in his homeland on this proposed move and with Zaki already firing for the Latics another Arabian Knight would certainly be full of Eastern Promise

I've heard a lot of good things about this guy - if he arrives in January, I'll be adjusting my Fantasy Football squad to include him... It already has Zaki!

Nice one Zaki and Qahtani, sound like a comedy duo, lets hope we will be laughing all the way to Europe
