Wigan Athletic - Brucie Gets Basic

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce revealed that the Latics wont be making the same defensive errors against Fulham has they made against Aston Villa on Sunday with his squad working on defending before they face the Cottagers, he told reporters:

'We've been punished and badly beaten and we'll have to work on it'

'We'll be doing that on Monday and Tuesday and trying to get it right for Wednesday.'

The Latics looked like they had started to believe all the hype that was surrounding the team, about how good they are, it looked like a case of` we`ll turn up, play well and win` and of course that doesn`t happen in the Premier League, Bruce continued:

'Maybe we're all getting a bit above our station and it's time to go back to basics and defend properly.

'You can't win a game in the Premier League when you defend like that.

'We conceded three last week and four against Villa. Three of the four that we conceded against Villa were so poor defensively and the glaring mistakes were not acceptable at this level.

'If you do that against a really good Aston Villa side then you have your backsides kicked and we certainly had that.'

Lets hope that Brucie gets it sorted for tomorrow night and we can get back on track

I bet he gave the players a right old kick-up the backside

Wigan form this season has ranged from excellent to diabolical. You beat Manchester City then you throw points away all over the place. If you play like you did against Villa you can forget it and expect a long cold winter.
