Suazo Set for Latics

Suazo Set for Latics

Chilean centre forward Humberto Suazo is believed to be a serious January transfer target for Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce as he looks to add to a squad that is down to the bare bones.

With Heskey and Zaki having uncertain Latics futures and Henri Camara not good enough Bruce knows he needs to add firepower to the side and once again he is turning to the American Continent to look for new recruits

Suazo currently plays for Mexican club Monterrey and he has 31 caps for Chile scoring 11 goals for his country, but it is his domestic goalscoring that must have alerted Bruce to the player, in 180 games he has scored an amazing 133 goals

Suazo was linked to Independiente of Argentina earlier this year but they couldn`t meet the £4.8 million asking price, Sky Sports report that Monterrey would be open to transfer negotiations.

I thought it was David Suazo when I first saw this but hey 133 goals in 180 matches is a good record, this guy was also named the world's top goalscorer in 2007 by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics.

Wigan 1-2 Bradford Match Report

Latics dropped to a deserved 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford, our first loss at home in the league since March. It was an off-day, defence looked shaky from the off and once Nick Powell went off injured, we never really threatened to score. We are back at the DW on Tuesday against Doncaster Rovers, an opportunity to get back on track.

Paul Cook named an unchanged side from our last league game, with Michael Jacobs returning to the starting line-up.
