Enemy In The Camp

Wigan Warriors chairman Maurice Lindsay is to join the board of directors at Wigan Athletic as part of a new joint venture at the JJB by David Whelan.

According to the Latics official site, Lindsay claims to be a long-standing fan of Wigan Athletic. Those of us with memories will never forget his comments on Grandstand in 1987 when we reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

Brenda Spencer will remain as chief executive of Wigan Athletic.

How the Jolly can he be allowed on the board??

I can't believe this, it must be an early April Fools joke.

What were his comments on Grandstand in 1987? I have no memory.

I can't remembre the exact quote but it was along the lines of 'This is a rugby town and there is no place for football.'. Also DW went to the rugby looking to groundshare at Central Park and they (ie ML) turned us down because they wanted to get rid of us.
