Did Adams Underestimate the Latics?

Wigan Athletic went to Fratton Park and beat Portsmouth 1-2 much to the annoyance of Pompey boss Tony Adams

Now Adams reaction to the defeat appears to be a little over the top in our opinion here at Vital Latics so we are wondering if indeed the former Arsenal player and one time Wycombe Wanderers manager hadnt underestimated the Latics

He has come out and said he would sooner be Pompey boss than Latics boss, why he had to say that no one knows, he`s also stated that Pompey are a better side than Latics, it sounds like a little rant from someone who is used to getting all their own way but didn`t quite yesterday.

I imagine that he thought it would be a stroll in the park against us, after all we are only Wigan, and he could see a glorious start to his Pompey managerial career with his first home game an emphatic triumph, didn`t quite turn out that way Tony did it?

With the disallowed goal that should have stood and the three one on ones, Latics could conceivably had another four goals on top of the two we finished with, imagine his reaction to that score line!

Any way we are running a poll on the site to see if you believe that Adams did in fact underestimate the Latics, it is on the right side of this page and to take part just pick your option then hit the submit button

He absolutely underestimated us and got what he deserved for doing so

Don't think he underestimated you at all and in thinking that I think you guys are taking some of the credit away from yourselves.. There's nothing Adams did that can be criticised from a Pompey point of view and on the run of play a a draw would have been a fairer result (but I'm bound to say that) . As for you thinking it could've been 6-1 well sorry if you apply that logic we should have won 9-6 .. Woodwork hit four times and four goalmouth clearances... Comments such as that only show complacany which IMO opinion would serve you very well.. But take the three points and be happy and good luck for the rest of the season..

... but all that said I think I underestimated you with my 4-0 prediction !!

We didn't handle the weather. Bleedin dry all week & again now, Sunday but oh no, come the game we empty the local seas & any chance of free flowing football goes. The blasted woodwork made it one of those. Lucky Harry has been replaced by unlucky Tony.

We did, i find what he said very offensive and a lack of respect, portsmouth is a better team than latics, guess who put the chances away. Have respect for other teams and don't show that ignorance. I liked tony adams but after he said that i dn't now.
