Wigan Athletic - Edman on the Mend

Wigan Athletic and Sweden left back Erik Edman played for the Latics reserves in their midweek victory over Middlesbrough as he starts to build up his fitness following a 10 month lay-off after damaging his cruciate ligament at Blackburn last January.

The classy former Spurs and Rennes player was settled in the Latics team before his injury and was playing really well, its been a long slog on the road to fitness and he missed the Euro 2008 Championship this summer

Edman was pleased to finally get some playing time under his belt and he is pleased with the way things are going, he told the official website:

'The plan was to take it really easy, play for about half an hour or 40 minutes maybe and not to push it too much.

'Now we can build things up over the next few weeks hopefully. I've had a slight hamstring problem over the past few weeks, and along with the knee, it's a case of gradually building up strength.

'Overall, I'm very happy to be playing again, it's been a long wait.'

Nice one Erik

Latics v QPR - Big Game Preview

An important game at the DW Stadium tomorrow for the Latics, Gary Caldwell will be hoping to banish the disappointment of conceding a 93 minute goal away at Forest last Saturday that saw a point slip away after coming from behind three times in the game.

QPR are in town, they aren't quite the multi-millionaires that they were the last time that we met, that was in the play off semi-final in 2014, but they do have a squad with lots of quality and will certainly pose a threat.
