Mamdouh Abbas Resigns from Zamalek
Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas, who Wigan Athletic had so much trouble dealing with during the prolonged Amr Zaki loan deal negotiations has resigned from his post according to an announcement made by the clubs General Manger Alaa Mekled on Thursday.
Mekled said that Abbas hadn`t disclosed his reasons for resigning but it is understood that Abbas jumped before he was pushed and a long time challenger of Abbas, Egyptian lawyer Mortada Mansour stepped forward to declare himself interested in the post, he told reporters:
'The club members are responsible for choosing the new chairman. If they want me, I will step in"
With the Latics looking to secure the signature of Zaki on a permanent basis it remains to be seen if the recent events at Zamalek will indeed hinder or aid this process
