Latics Lead at Half Time

Wigan Athletic go in at half time 1-0 up thanks to a wonder goal by Ryan Taylor the man who has a knack of scoring against Newcastle

With Zaki and Heskey injured, Melchiot ill and DeRidder and Koumas dropped the starting line-up shad quite a few changes today as the Latics look to get their third away win of the season

Latics took the lead on 3 minutes when Taylor got the ball on the edge of the area and as it bobbled in front of him and sideways on he curled it with the outside of his right boot to loop a fantastic effort over Given and into the top right

Latics were dominant throughout the first half and had efforts from Palacios and Valencia which were well saved by Given whilst at the other end Kirkland hasn`t been troubled

Newcastle lost midfield nutcase Joey Barton following a collision with Latics skipper for the day Lee Cattermole whilst both Palacios and Kapo have received lengthy treatment following nasty incidents with a very physical Newcastle side

Right at the end of the first half with 5 minutes injury time played Kapo raced through on the Latics left and hit a sweet shot that narrowly missed the outside of the far post with Given well beaten.
A good first half lets keep it up
The starting eleven is:

Kirkland

Taylor, Bramble, Boyce, Figueroa

Valencia, Scharner, Cattermole, Palacios, Kapo

Camara

Subs: Pollitt , Kilbane, Brown, DeRidder, Cywka, Kuspisz, Routledge
