Baines Set to Face Latics

Baines Set to Face Latics

Everton left back Leighton Baines prepares to return 'home` for tomorrows game against Wigan Athletic at the JJB and surely there must be a tinge of regret on his part about leaving the Latics

Baines came through the ranks under Paul Jewell and got his big break while still an 18 year old apprentice though it took him another 12 months to establish himself in the first team.

The young Scouser benefited from an injury plagued time at the Latics by Steve McMillan and filled his boots accordingly making a total of 162 appearances (145 in the league) and scored four league goals for the Latics.

Baines moved on to Everton in the summer of 2007 for £4.5 million and to date he has 37 appearances for the Toffees leaving him just one game short of a 200th appearance landmark
