Vital Latics Australian analyser Sprayzen gives us his take on the proceedings at the JJB this afternoon following the clash between Wigan Athletic and West Bromwich Albion
My man of the match has to be Kirkland he was brilliant as usual today, some brilliant reflex saves, some full stretch saves and some saves he had to make 1 on 1 with a striker (more than once)
Figueroa today showed why he needs a lot of work if he wants to make the grade in the EPL, whilst as a defender he is good he needs to remember that he is a defender and the position on the park he has to stay, today he was caught out of position to many times.
Boyce was solid for most of the game, he did make a few errors but all our backs did at some stage
Bramble a tale of 2 halves, I really don't know what to do with him, he is great at the back the majority of time its just those 2-3 times during a season that he stuffs up and it usually always is converted into a goal
Taylor was again solid, his defence was decent he was found missing 2 or 3 times but made up with it with his crosses and set piece plays, he really is a quality dead ball expert causing save off 1, beating everyone but just missing the goal on another go and just going over with another attempt, all his crosses looked a threat as well
Palacios made some nice touches but looks to be out of sorts on the left edge
Brown prevented WBA moving forward up the middle his defence caused WBA no end of problems along the ground they had to go over and wide to get past him
Cattermole again another good game he really is coming along well, the long ball to Valencia was brilliant, would like to see him just move forward a bit more and create chances for having a shot now and then
Valencia did a lot of running out wide and was heavily marked for most of the game, he created space for himself and also appeared to free up a bit of room in the middle, nearly had a great chance but was cleared by Robinson
Camara scored a brilliant goal, he looked sharp all game and was running all game, he looked good to be honest and whenever the ball came down to him he always looked to go towards goal, when Zaki is fit Bruce will have a headache to deal with regarding camera because he is in some form
Heskey well he isn't scoring but whats new, don't think he has scored a goal at home for at least 8 months now??
Anyway onto the game in the air difficult as usual, he should of done better with 2 of his headers and he needs to play more for himself than others. he had some room several times but didn't know what to do with it, could be a blessing in disguise if he goes during the next transfer window
