Wigan Athletic - Bruce Says Kirkland is the Best

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce has come out and said that Latics keeper Chris Kirkland is the best in the country after another superb performance that earned 3 points for his club against West Brom yesterday at the JJB, Bruce told reporters:

'We have to thank our goalkeeper, he was fantastic and in my eyes is one of the best goalkeepers in the country, if not the best'

Bruce says that the Latics have had to change Kirklands training schedule due to the condition of his back, Kirkland suffers from Spondylitis a condition of inflammation of the vertebrae and sciatica, Bruce continued:

'With his fragile back we have decided to put the reins on him and keep him fresh. That's why we have changed his training regime.

'He was one of the old-fashioned types who just wanted balls blasted at him from six yards. He was a workaholic. But that's left him a bit stiff.

'Now he works a lot in the gym on strength and conditioning work. If he goes with England he trains twice a day but he can't do that and we've to discuss that with them'

Bruce says that the turning point of the game centred around the save that Kirkland made from James Morrison, he said:
'The big turning point was when Morrison went through and Kirkland made the save. Then we went up the park and scored.'

lincolnblue
not the first time he has said he is the best (http://www.wigan.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=132857), and probably no the last... however I still think that Hart is thebest choice of the young keepers, and James is the best of all of them...
