FA Cup Time is Here - Who Do You Fancy?

FA Cup Time is Here - Who Do You Fancy?

Wigan Athletic and the FA Cup

Its 3rd round time once again and all teams dream of glamour ties, when the Latics were in the lower reaches of the football league I always wanted a clash against a top club, now I want a lower or non-league side so that we can go on a good cup run

We have been to the Carling Cup final, wouldn`t the FA Cup final be fantastic and a good draw will get us on our way, the cup is also about a little romance and there are one or two clubs that would make a game between themselves and the Latics very interesting

With the sides left in I fancy Barrow at the JJB or away, not because I think it will be an easy tie, though it should but because they are managed by ex-Latic man Darren Sheridan and a real character he is, I remember an interview he did following his play-off semi-final goal against Millwall, one of the funniest football related items I have witnessed

Many people believe Jimmy Bullard to be the greatest 'character` that has played at Wigan but Sheridan is up there with Bullard and I cant go in to details for fear of getting sued or my legs broke ;)

The draw will be made by Ray Clemence and Sir Trevor Brooking after Sundays televised game around 2.15pm on ITV1.

The ties are due to be played over the weekend of January 3rd and 4th 2009.

I'd be happy for Chelsea to draw Eastwood Town or Histon when they beat Leeds :-)

I always loved the cup when we entered at round 1, entering at round 3 feels a little like cheating

I've always thought that all teams should enter the FA cup at round one......it would give the lower teams much much more chance of playing the big teams....and bring in much needed money for those lower teams.....they could seed the prem teams so they dont meet until the third round......it would make the FA cup much more interesting in the earlier two rounds then......

Latics v Wolves - Big Game Preview

There is a little bit of pressure starting to mount down at the Latics, no win in seven games and sitting bottom of the pile, the sooner we can get a three points haul in the bag the better.

Gary Caldwell felt that his team were unlucky not to win the game at Preston on Friday never mind lose it, a wickedly deflected effort early on followed by some resolute defending kept the Latics at bay, but a failure to take two excellent chances was the downfall as we lost by the odd goal for the 7t

Shaun MacDonald, who left the field early against Preston with a dead leg, should be fit to play tonight and Nick Powell is said to be ready, following his groin strain, to return
