Wigan Athletic - Bruce Says Heskey to Stay

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has said that he expects Emile Heskey to stay at the club at least until summer even if a bid comes in for him in the next transfer window.

Bruce speaking at the fans forum this evening said that it would take a massive bid for him to even consider going to the chairman with a view to selling Heskey, a bid in excess of 10 million.

The Latics boss said that the club would find bringing in a quality replacement very difficult in January and that he hopes to persuade Heskey to extend his time at the club any way, he said:

"Playing at Wigan has been good for Heskey, he`s got back in the England set up and that`s down to playing week in week out.

"If he was at one of the big clubs would he be playing every week? No, he`s better staying here, Emile Heskey is good for Wigan and Wigan is good for Emile Heskey"
