Some might say its a bit harsh to write that Wigan are in a relegation battle. There is daylight there, as Steve Bruce puts it, but a win against Blackburn would do nothing but wonders for the people of the JJB Stadium alike.
Will it be a 5-3 victory like last year? I think not.
Blackburn really need the points on the board or a relegation battle they will face.
For me, Blackburn haven't really done a lot to make me think they are a better side than last season. In fact, I think that Ince has had a negative impact on the club.
Ince needs to go for me because otherwise I think Blackburn will ultimately suffer. I think they might be like Fulham last term and survive on the final day or pull off a miraculous escape. Something tells me that Blackburn will be OK but first things first, Ince needs to be given his p45.
Anyways, back to the boys in blue and white and they've had a decent run. They lost to Arsenal but not disgracefully by any stretch of the imagination and they almost salvaged a point.
I think, personally, that this game has all the hallmarks of a draw written over it. Wilson Palacios will be missed but we've got other midfield titans that can take his role and it will be a welcome return presumably for Michael Brown. He can more than fill Wilson's shoes just for this game.
This is going to be a tough battle for both sides because Blackburn won't be giving anything away and cannot afford to lose any more points in their race to stay in this league.
I don't think you'll see a lot of attacking from Blackburn - I think it'll be a cagey affair. Blackburn will test the waters before they mount an attack on our goal but we'll be brimming with confidence after our good recent run so they'll need to defend well.
To me, this is one of those typical games where there's more to lose than there is to gain.
WIGAN: PLAYER TO WATCH
AMR ZAKI - Time to get your shooting boots on again, Amr. With Henri Camara up front, Blackburn might have a busy afternoon at the office.
Wigan 1 Blackburn 0
Just fancy Wigan to nick this one - I think that Blackburn will have to put in a defensive shift but they'll get undone by the odd goal but Blackburn are a good side nevertheless. It just seems Paul Ince hasn't got them going yet.
Apologies for not doing an Arsenal V Wigan preview. I had a lot going on last week, it just completely slipped my mind.
As for Blackburn, I think they'll stay up, but it'll be a tough ride.
I sympathise with manager, players and fans. A relegation battle is anything but pleasant.
Good luck to both teams on Saturday!
