Lawro Predicts - Bolton Vs Latics

Lawro Predicts - Bolton Vs Latics

Ex-Liverpool player and BBC football pundit Mark 'Lawro` Lawrenson has done his weekly round of forecasting for the Beeb and he sees the Bolton Wanderers Vs Wigan Athletic game at the Reebok ending in a defeat for the Latics, yeah right, this is what he says:

Bolton didn't show up at Anfield, but they have a habit of beating teams in and around them and I think this will continue on Sunday.

Wigan have won four of their last five league games (all at home) and comfortably beat Newcastle on Friday - they have amassed over 50 points in the calendar year which is testament to how good a job Steve Bruce is doing.

Verdict: 2-1

Lawro is at it again betting against the Latics, Bolton are a poor side and when they face quality teams like us they fall apart

Worbos verdict 0-2

I prefer Lawro not backing us to win, he has the kiss of death

stop whinging! Lawro has predicted bolton to win only once this season before this game. You are also blindly biased if you think Wigan are a "quality side" and Bolton are a "poor side" We both have similarly average squads and with home advantage its a fair prediction from Lawro.
27/12/2008 15:12:00
Keep backing us to lose, Mark! We love you for it because it means we could and hopefully win. 3 points against Bolton would be magnificent but I predict a draw!
27/12/2008 15:13:00
winning 4 games in the last six...quality form..hopes it goes on
27/12/2008 15:42:00
Nice one jimbo, I think you willl find that we are a quality side
27/12/2008 17:30:00
to be fair worbo, you have built a half decent side. palacios, valencia, heskey, zaki are good players but to say wigan are a "quality side" and bolton are a "poor side" doesn't make much sense. If we were bottom of the league and you were in the top 6 i could maybe understand that statement. we are only 1 point behind you and most bolton fans consider us to have had an average season so far, i expect most wigan fans would say they have had a good season. yet you are 1pt and 1 positon higher than us. Anyways, we'll see come tomorrow.
27/12/2008 17:48:00
2 points jimbo....just playful banter, though you have named 4 quality players in the Latics team and not mentioned Kirkland or Melchiot, I can think of Taylor in the Bolton line up that I would want in our squad and thats it....most Bolton fans that I talk to are very surprised at how well you have done this season, most Latics fans to be honest are slightly disappointed that we are not challenging Everton for that 6th spot, like you say we'll see tomorrow....we owe you from last season so be ready for an onslaught ;)
27/12/2008 18:00:00
fair do's on kirkland he is a good keeper not as good as Jussi but younger. for the sake of friendly banter i'd argue both your strikers want away, steinsson is better than melchiot, cahill is better than any of your defender you have. I'd say if im honest we should both finish mid-table. I geniunlly hope you finish well above blackburn. I do think if you had a better back 4 you could claim to have a top 10 "quality side" Has Bruce got money to spend in January?
27/12/2008 18:10:00
Thanks for that honest appraisal Jim...Bruce has been told to sell before he buys though this has been denied even though Whelan said it on TV! We have secured the signature of a forward Hugo Radallega a much talked about Columbian but we could do with another centre half, Bramble believe it or not has been superb and he is a fans favouriote, we also have Scharner and the vastly under-rated Boyce but we could do with some strength in depth, btw Blackburn were woeful last week

Latics v Brighton - Big Game Preview

Latics are back at the DW Stadium this afternoon following a very creditable draw on Tuesday away at Leeds, the game extending our unbeaten run to four, which must give us something of a platform to build on as the season is starting to take shape.

Brighton are flying high at the moment, currently 3rd in the Championship with just one away defeat, Newcastle at St James's Park and they have players, especially in attack, of exceptional quality at this level.
