Wigan Athletic - Valencia Talk Hots Up

With the January transfer window set to open at the end of this week there has been a flurry of news reports linking Wigan Athletic midfield star Antonio Valencia with a mega money move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Valencia has been in scintillating form so far this season and it is no surprise that he is being linked with the top clubs from around Europe, but it seems that there is a bit too much media interest in the Real Madrid move for it to be pure speculation.

Also the reported fee has been rising daily with the latest figures being banded about £17.5 million making it a deal too good to turn down as far as the Latics are concerned.

Valencias agent Diego Herrera though is claiming that there hasn`t been any contact with himself, Valencia or the Latics and until there is we shouldn`t get carried away, he told reporters:

'Until there is something official I don't want to say anything.

'I have understood that Madrid want to close the signing that they are chasing during the first week of January.

'We will see what will happen in the next few days.'

With the worlds media showing interest in a story that was first broke right here on Vital Latics in early November no wonder this is the place to be for all Latics news, stay tuned and find out whats going on at Englands finest Premier League club

I hope he stays until summer at least, a fantastic player and one of the reasons why this season we have been so good

If we are going to sell him, get 20mil for him at least, he is one of the best right wing men running around, is still young at 23 and isn't he signed for another 3yrs? Why not get compensated for the rest of his contract as well

17.5 MIL IS NOT A BAD PROPOSAL , AND REMEMBER THEY NEED HIM VERY MUCH COZ HE'S CAPABLE 2 PLAY IN THE CHAMPION'S LEAGUE THIS YEAR UNLIKE PLAYERS FROM OTHER CLUBS WHO ALREADY PLAYED SOME EUROPIAN GAMES , I SAY 20 MIL IS KINDA TOO MUCH THOUGH

20m would be fantastic. Now Real want to take Valencia on loan. I think not. Looks like we may be holding onto Valencia and Heskey. All good and if we can strengthen considerably in Jan, even better.
