Latics to Call for Hunt?

The Daily Mirror are reporting that Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is set to offer Reading £5 million for wide midfield man Stephen Hunt who only signed a long term extension to his contract at the Berkshire club last year.

Hunt is a controversial figure and he plays with lots of aggression and a well documented challenge by Hunt left Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech with a fractured skull.

The 27 year old Irishman started his career at Crystal Palace featuring just 3 times before moving on to Brentford where he enjoyed a good spell making 136 appearances for the Griffin Park club scoring 25 goals in his four years there.

Hunt left Brentford in 2005 on a free transfer and almost joined Bradford City after agreeing terms with the Banthams before Reading made a late bid for his services, he chose to join the Royals and has they say the rest his history, with Hunt making 129 appearances and scoring 15 goals for Berkshires only league club.

Hunt has also represented the Republic of Ireland 15 times since making his international debut against San Marino in February 2007, he has one goal to his name

Hunt is a great player, lots of energy, great heart, creative, yet all some people remember is the collision with a keeper 2 years ago and believe Mourinho's subsequent propaganda about how he's a dirty player who intended to hurt his player. What complete crap,Wigan would be lucky to sign him,but i can see him go to a bigger club.
