Steve Bennett to Referee United Vs Latics

Steve Bennett to Referee United Vs Latics

Orpingtons own Steve Bennett will take charge of Wigan Athletics game against Manchester United tomorrow evening at Old Trafford.

Bennett has refereed the Latics three times already this season, the opening day defeat at West Ham, the win over Manchester City at the JJB and our 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates, which was also our last league defeat, in fact it was the last league game which we didn`t win

In contrast Bennett has refereed United on just one previous occasion this season, their win away at Blackburn in October

In total Steve Bennett has refereed 14 games so far this season, issuing 53 yellow cards and to date no reds.

Bennett has been a Premier League referee since 1999 and in 2007 he refereed the FA cup final between Chelsea and Manchester United which Chelsea won 1-0.

Lets hope that he has a good yet quiet game tomorrow and no controversial decisions please Mr Bennett, we can beat United without your help.

Latics v QPR - Big Game Preview

An important game at the DW Stadium tomorrow for the Latics, Gary Caldwell will be hoping to banish the disappointment of conceding a 93 minute goal away at Forest last Saturday that saw a point slip away after coming from behind three times in the game.

QPR are in town, they aren't quite the multi-millionaires that they were the last time that we met, that was in the play off semi-final in 2014, but they do have a squad with lots of quality and will certainly pose a threat.
