Kilbane Signs For Hull

Wigan Athletic have sold Kevin Kilbane to Premier League rivals Hull City for an undisclosed sum after the Republic of Ireland international passed a medical and put pen to paper on a 2 ˝ year deal.

Kilbane slipped down the pecking order at the Latics and needed to move on to get first team football but he said he was grateful to the Latics for the time at the club, he told the press:

" 'I want to thank everybody at Wigan. I have really enjoyed my time here, and the club is definitely moving in the right direction'

'I'd also like to thank the Wigan fans who have always been very supportive.'

Latics boss Steve Bruce said he was sad to be losing one of his senior pro`s but understood Killers reasons, he told reporters:

" 'On a football level, I'm disappointed to lose a very experienced squad member in Kevin and a true professional in every sense. But I feel we are well stocked on the left-hand side area, and we left it up to Kevin to make the final decision.

'Kevin has been a really valued member of the team, never given less than 100% and sets a terrific example in the dressing room. However, at his age, I can understand he wants to be playing regularly - something which we have not been able to offer him of late. He goes with all our best wishes.'
