City to Gazzump Spurs For Palacios?

Manchester City have apparently 'significantly` out bid Spurs in the chase to sign Wigan Athletic and Honduras midfield sensation Wilson Palacios.

The Independent report that Latics and Tottenham Hotspur had reached a deal only for an unnamed Premier League club, reportedly Manchester City, to offer a much larger fee to Wigan chairman Dave Whelan.

Spurs may have cash to spend but City have cash to burn and late last night Tottenham were ready to admit defeat when they couldn`t even ascertain how much City have offered Latics for the 24 year old midfield man.

Palacios himself is still undecided if he wants to leave the club that showed faith in him and gave him his big break in English football with the Honduran torn between showing loyalty to the Latics and Steve Bruce or setting himself and his family up financially.

Palacios was due to bring his parents and brothers and sisters over from Honduras to live in the UK in the next few weeks and he has been house hunting in and around the select areas of Cheshire.

With City`s interest Palacios may find the lure of the wealth of Eastlands to great to turn down and Spurs may find it too hard to compete with

Your cash is derived from an economy that survives on exploiting third world workers. I have lived in Abu Dhabi for a while and believe me the people with the money treat the workers as scum. I met people who worked a seven day week for less than a hundred pounds a month. People with three year old children they had never seen as they are only allowed to go home once every five years,if at all. Do your homework before you start flashing your dirty cash around. This is bad for football and anyone with any sense of moral backbone. This is the death of football!

exactly, City will turn their interest to someone else soon enough. Unfortunately in football, money talks and no disrespect meant to city but they are a nothing club with a load of cash to spend. Im praying they go down this season

A move to man city would be bad for Palacios as he might just end up worse than Shaun Wright Philips at Chelski where he spent most of the time on the bench as Man City go on their endless buying spree...Kaka, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Huntelaar, Gerald, Beckham, etc, etc, etc...Moving to Spurs will assure him an instant first team place and he will develop under Harry. Time for Wilson to make a wise decision as money is not everything as these money bags get bored and with any financial loss, he could be the big loser in the end.

the Independant say City and the Daily Mail say fergie and United are going to supper this deal and leave Spurs high and dry. Both are credible journo sources of course so I guess that's it then. I wonder which part of reality will reveal itself??? The over blown January fee syndrome (at least 5million over priced lets be honest) as Spurs attempt to buy survival, City's arab millions and Fergies ongoing hatred of Daniel Levy all makes for journo delight! Harry will get his man and journos can speculate on other City jumble sale antics

It is the time the source of wealth coming into the PL is thoroughly investigated as EVIL money will come in from people of questionable character and the PL will become the best place to launder money from oppressed people from countries with no standards. Don't be surprised if present and past despots like Mugabe, Babagida, Pol Pot family, etc come for their PL team? It is time standards are set before these guys ruin English football. What has this Sheik done for his people, contributed to the red cross and red crescent for the Palestinians in Gaza, third world poverty while he is ready to burn over £100m on Kaka?

SWP rotted on the bench at Chelski, that whole purchase was just a cynical move to keep him out of Arsenal's hands. But Winston is probably good enough to earn a spot in the current Citeh. As a rule of thumb, Spurs pay twice the actual valuation of a player, three times in the case of Bentley. But at the moment, Citeh is paying three times the valuation- in the case os Wayne Bridge, four times. Take the money and buy what you need with it, preferably from Spurs because the amount of money they are throwing around, with their small stadium and no Champions League, they are setting themselves up to be the next Leeds, and as any away fan of any team who has made the trip to White Hart Lane knows, their absence from the Premier League would be great given their despicable fans. Worst place to visit in all of England.

MC can't buy everybody & keep them all happy. You can't build a quality team on individuals that are just chucked together. Any success will be limited.

elbondo you speak rubbish. why would the prem league be better off without spurs. great history. over the last four or five year have been one of the best clubs other than the top four. the ground is full every home game. with a 20.000 waiting list for season tickets. plans for a new 60.000 ground. other than two united teams we have the best away support. so think be for you speak. but spurs should go sown if they dont finish out the bottom 3! no other reason.

Elbondo Spurs are one of the best run clubs in the league,we may spend a lot,but we also balance the books,i think in the summer we made a profit, despite buying in 80mil worth of players!
