Mido Joins Zaki at Wigan Athletic

Its been on the cards since July but finally Ahmed Hossam Hussein Abdelhamid, or has he is more commonly known, Mido, today became a Wigan Athletic player.

Following the sale of Emile Heskey to Aston Villa Latics boss Steve Bruce wasted no time finding a replacement and persuaded Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate to allow the Egypt international to join the Latics till at least June.

At 25 Mido is entering his prime and is raring to get his Latics career up and running, he also joins his international team mate and good friend Amr Zaki at the JJB and the prospect of Egypts two most prolific strikers teaming up to spearhead the Latics attack for the rest of the season is a mouth watering proposition.

Steve Bruce cant wait to start working with Mido and he is genuinely excited by this, he told the clubs official website:

'Mido brings vast experience to the table. He has a good Premier League pedigree having scored goals at Tottenham and Middlesbrough, and he has also played for some huge European clubs, where he gained Champions League and UEFA Cup experience.

'He is still a relatively young man with potentially his best years ahead of him and hopefully he can produce a bit of magic for us during the rest of the season.

Mido himself was pleased to finally sign for a club that he has been angling to get a deal with for over 6 months and with a beaming smile splashed across his face he said:

'Wigan are a club moving in the right direction, who play great football and their league position is no fluke. I'm really looking forwards to teaming up with some excellent players.

'When a man like Steve Bruce, who has achieved so much in the game, says he wants you, you have to take up opportunities like that. My focus now is entirely on making sure we reach safety and then progress as far as we can this season.'

'I'm also really pleased to be teaming up with Zaki. He is a top player and a good friend and it always helps when there are familiar faces when you join a new club. Now I just want to show the Wigan public what I am all about and play football.'

best of luck with him lads. keep him fit and away from gregg's and he'll give you goals, for at least a year then he'll get bored and go!
boros_finest
Well as long as he does enough to get goals and keep us up, that's what matters but I do expect a bit more than that from Mido. I've little doubt he'll not score goals.
