Heskeys Message to the Fans

Heskeys Message to the Fans

Emile Heskey left a message today for all Wigan Athletic supporters has he completed his transfer to Premier League rivals Aston Villa in a deal worth £3.5 million to the Latics

Heskey signed a 3 ½ year contract with Villa and this will give him security has his playing days are now becoming numbered and he is entering the final stages of his illustrious career.

Heskey was quite emotional when saying goodbye to a club that he is obviously very fond of but he does leave with good memories and he leaves the fans with a lasting memory of a superb performance that he put in on the final day of the 2006/07 season when we had to win at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United to guarantee Premier League survival, Heskey told the clubs official site:

'I'm sure many of you will be disappointed I have chosen to leave the club. But I have to do what I feel is best for me and my family. The chance to play in Europe, and hopefully in the Champions League again, is a huge thing for me at this time of my career, and the chance to rejoin Martin O'Neill, the man who did so much for me in my early years, really was too big to resist.

'I want to thank all the supporters at Wigan for how they have been with me. From the day I walked in the club they made me feel wanted and the club has really helped me over the past three years. For that I will always be grateful.

'Wigan is a very special club and it has been a privilege to play a part in their story. It makes me very proud to have been the first England player at the club, that really means a lot, I feel I have been involved in a bit of history. I sincerely hope I will not be the last.

'Good luck in the future, Steve has assembled a great team and I'm sure you will go from strength to strength.'

Thanks for the memories Hesk

To be honest it hasn't really sunk in he's gone. I really do hope for his sake Villa do end up in Europe or the champions league because I'd be gutted for him if he didn't. Something tells me I think that Villa are more likely European contenders but I may be wrong. The top 4 always seem to find a way of finishing in the top 4 but it would be nice to see Villa finish there.

Sorry to take him off you guys. He's been fantastic for you. I just knew that at some point he would join MON at Villa. Best of luck for most of the rest of the season.

EMile is a top bloke and perhaps being so nice is the reason why he has never had the recognition he deserves

Latics v Brighton - Big Game Preview

Latics are back at the DW Stadium this afternoon following a very creditable draw on Tuesday away at Leeds, the game extending our unbeaten run to four, which must give us something of a platform to build on as the season is starting to take shape.

Brighton are flying high at the moment, currently 3rd in the Championship with just one away defeat, Newcastle at St James's Park and they have players, especially in attack, of exceptional quality at this level.
