Aston Villa Back to Target Scharner

Following their capture of Emile Heskey last week it looks like Aston Villa will return to the JJB with a 6 million offer for Wigan Athletic centre back Paul Scharner.

Villa boss Martin O`Neil is looking for an experienced defender to step straight into the side following the news that Martin Laursen will be out for two months with a serious injury

Scharners agent Valentin Hobel says that Villa are interested and ready to make a bid, he told reporters:

'Aston Villa are interested in Paul. There is definitely something in it. The ball is in Villa's court.'

Scharner appears to be happy at the Latics but he has responded to the reported interest by declaring that with Villa being an ambitious club it is a move that he would consider, Scharner told reporters:

'Aston Villa are an ambitious club, and joining them would be an upward step for my career. 'I originally decided to stay with Wigan in the new year, but if an offer comes in for me I will consider it.'

In out, in out, its getting a bit like the hokey cokey
worbo
this is stupid... are we going to overhaul the entire squad in this transfer window?????
d_manga_fanatic
well they take our players all and we don't want to play in Epl this is disgusting thing
ahmedhossam
How many do we have not on loan then, cos that's the number I'd guess at us selling, maybe they'll be a BOGOFF sale. Are we Woolworths, are we Woolworths, are we Woolworths in disguise, are we Woolworths in disguise?
yams
Over rated crap like Heskey.
eh?
and who is going to be the back up centre half for Bramble/Boyce Madness
baskerville
Hangeland would do me, but there's fat chance.
yams
This isn't a nice thing to read, don't like players or agents talking about other clubs (even the one I support) when at another. That is an insult to Wigan and totally out of order. These players really don't know the honoured position they are in do they?
The Fear
if he wants to leave, show him the door
shomlife
No, show him the Villa bench, it'll be home for the rest of the season.
yams
He won't move as he's needed for back-up, but if Richards, Taylor, Hypia or similar are brought in, sell Sharner immediately.
eh?
