Christian Panucci in Talks with the Latics

Christian Panucci in Talks with the Latics

Sky Sports News are reporting that Wigan Athletic are in talks with Roma defender Christian Panucci over a loan deal that would see the Italy international stay at the JJB to the end of the season

Panucci is a vastly experienced centre back but at 35 surely his best days are well passed though his CV reads like a whos who of European club football having played for Genoa, both AC and Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Monaco and since 2001 Roma.

It looks like it will go through. I must say i am very impressed by the Jan signings and think Wigan can pull of a UEFA cup place.

Pannucci is world class, can't see anyone at Wigan being unhappy with him if he does sign. OK he's not going to be around for long, but he'd be brilliant for the rest of this season and possibly next. From what looked like a disaster when Heskey and Palacios left, things are now looking pretty good for the latics in this window.
