Kightly 'The` Mystery Valencia Replacement?

Kightly 'The` Mystery Valencia Replacement?

Wigan Athletic are being linked with a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers right sided midfield man Michael Kightly has a possible replacement for exiting Latic Antonio Valencia this summer.

Latics boss Steve Bruce has been quoted has saying that the club have identified Valencias replacement and that they are working on a deal to bring him to the club, now the news breaking in the Black Country is that Kightly is that man even though Wolves themselves are on the verge of promotion to the Premier League

A quick look at the 23 year olds career and it doesn`t show a great pedigree, the Basildon born player started his career at his home town club (Basildon United) before moving to Southend United in 2003 but things didn`t work out there and following a loan spell at Farnborough Town, Southend released Kightly at the end of the 2005 season.

Kightly was picked up by Conference side Grays Athletic and he was a regular in their side scoring 15 goals in his first season and becoming nicknamed the 'Ryan Giggs` of non league football, by November of his 2nd season at Grays, Kightly had already bagged 10 goals and in stepped Wolves to take him back to League football.

Since November 2007 Kightly has made 70 appearances for Wolves scoring 17 goals along the way, if the Latics are attempting to persuade Mick McCarthy to part with the England Under 21 international it could well take a sizeable transfer fee to do so.

I have seen him play a few times and he always looks good, fast and direct but will Wolves let him go and can he make the step if they did?
