Bruce Excited by the Young Ones

Bruce Excited by the Young Ones

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce says he is directing the club to go with young players who can come in and perform to a high standard and then get themselves a big money move to one of Europes elite.

Following the sale of Wilson Palacios and the form of Latics summer capture Lee Cattermole Bruce has a point and he says working with the young ones is very enjoyable and he wants the new group of young ones to rise to the challenge, he told reporters:

'I really enjoy working with younger players. It's good for the future of the club with the direction we want to go in. If I can bring younger players in, I will do.

'Sometimes it's a case of telling them to come here, work hard, and see if they're the next player who attracts offers of £10million.

'Look at the rise of Lee Cattermole since coming here. He's been magnificent for us and is still only 20.

'I'm hoping the other young players I've brought in can rise to a similar level of performance every week.'
