Latics Reserves Face Manchester United Reserves

Wigan Athletic reserves face Manchester United reserves this evening at the Robin Park Arena in a 7:30pm kick-off hoping to get back to winning ways following last weeks 5-0 trouncing at St. James Park against Newcastle United

Tonights Latics reserve team will feature both Erik Edman and Ben Watson to give the young side a little more steel and give the two first teamers a little more match fitness as they battle for a starting place in the first eleven.

Reserve team boss Keith Bertschin is looking forward to the game and he told the clubs official web site that the players need no motivation from him to be fired up for this one, Bertschin said:

'The lads have done well this season, especially at home, and they will be motivated to put on another show tonight against what will be a very talented Manchester United, whichever side they put out.

'I expect a really tough test. Any team bearing the name Manchester United will be good passers of the ball and test you to the limit.'

Latics young lads beat Manchester United away earlier in the season and one of the Latics goal scorers that evening Matty Hampson has unfortunately dropped down to the bench for tonights fixture due to the inclusion of Edman and Watson

The Latics team is:

Nicholls,
Montrose, Field, Pearson, Edman, Mahon, Routledge, Watson, Holt, Kupisz, Cywka

Subs: Williams, Redmond, Buxton, Hampson, McManaman
