Bruce Wants Zaki Spark to Fire Wigan

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce feels that Egyptian marksman Amr Zaki will be the spark to fire the Latics through to the end of the season and help the club reach the goal of European qualification.

Bruce says that a lot of Premier League clubs struggle to score goals and that they are desperate for a player who can get 10-12 in a season, the Latics are lucky in that respect, Zaki has bagged 10 league goals already.

The Latics boss is now hoping that Zaki will rediscover his early season goal scoring form and bang in some more as the club enters the home straight, Bruce told reporters:

'Zaki is the one who can be the spark for us - he can set us on fire again with goals'

'If you look at a lot of clubs in the Premier League, the one thing they have in common is that they struggle for goals.

'They don't have someone who can score them 10 or 12 goals, it's incredible how many teams have that problem.

'We're fortunate to have Zaki who is already in double figures, and I hope that he can give himself some fresh impetus and score a few more for us.'
