Boro Embarassment in Treatment of Cattermole

I couldn`t believe what I was witnessing at yesterdays game at the Riverside between Middlesbrough and Wigan Athletic, players blatantly trying to get an ex-colleague sent off.

In the 16th minute of the game Lee Cattermole tackled Boro player Didier Digard in midfield and set up an attack for the Latics, Digard stayed down, the game went on, Boro got possession and the referee stopped the game for treatment.

Whilst the game was stopped there were lots of fingers pointing and gesturing from Boro players towards Latics man Cattermole, trying to wind the fiery Boro born lad up and it didn`t take long for Cattermole to get himself booked, but this was for an innocuous challenge but referee Mike Dean deemed as consistent fouling, fair enough

What happened next wasn`t fair, every time Cattermole went near a Boro player they fell over clutching their leg and the crowd bayed for another booking and ultimate dismissal, to be frank it was embarrassing and the referee thought so as well booking two Middlesbrough players for simulation, O`Neil and Alves, but they weren`t the only ones to be doing it.

An embarrassment is an understatement of what was going on in the first half, compliments to Gareth Southgate though because it stopped following his half-time team talk

12 months ago Cattermole was a popular member of the Boro squad and his treatment at the hand of his former mates and colleagues was quite frankly a disgrace

I couldnt believe all the falling over everytime Cattermole made a challange, they were either trying to get him sent off or scared to death of him

he brings it all on himself, pushing poggy after the challenge was never going to be a good move!

Cattermole says he dosnt want Boro to go down.He may have put the nail into Boros religation coffin. We need players like Digard to keep us up, and failed to attract players like Ben Watson during the window .Our only hope is that Cattermole carrys on ending other teams players seasons so that we can compete. Cheers Cats a true BORO BOY!
