Benitez Deal Back on for Latics


Wigan Athletic General Manager John Benson has travelled to Mexico in order to tie up a deal with Santos Laguna for Ecuador striker Christian Benitez who has just returned from a broken leg.

22 year old Benitez was expected to sign on for the Latics in January but a freak training ground incident put paid to that with the diminutive striker left with a broken leg but now thats cleared up the deal reputed to be 6 million is back on.

It appears that Latics manager Steve Bruce is preparing to plan for next season without the services of on loan striker Amr Zaki, who has been a fantastic success in his first season at the club, but this has alerted Europes top clubs to Zaki`s potential and priced the Latics out of any summer deal for the Zamalek owned player.

Next seasons forward line at Wigan looks set to have the Spanish speaking Hugo Rodallega and Christian Benitez leading the way to Premier League glory.
