A Cruel Game - Sprayzens Analysis

A Cruel Game - Sprayzens Analysis

Chelsea 2-1 Wigan Athletic

What a cruel game that was

Probably the best attack seen from Wigan for a very long time especially on goal and to come away without anything

The boys can hold there head high after that performance and Bruce would have liked what he saw

I must admit though that after we scored our goal our defenders looked flat and nervous and maybe something Bruce could work on for the future

Just watching the replay of chances etc and boy ohhh boy Scharner really should of done better or passed it to Zog at least who would have had nothing but an open goal to work with but them are the breaks hopefully the boys will lift

Bramble my Man of the Match today he was brilliant

Kapo finally gave us something to smile about, aside from the goal he scored he played well today and looked like a player who wanted to be out there running all over the park

Zaki looked fitter and better today running all around the park, he needs someone up front and well I have no doubt goals will come

Interesting that we started looking more of a force moving forward yet again when Hugo came on, not saying its him directly but playing 2 up front clearly gives us those added options, can't wait to see 2 up front with Zog and Valencia on the flanks

The teams were:

Chelsea

1. Petr Cech

42. Michael Mancienne 33. Alex 26. John Terry 3. Ashley Cole

13. Michael Ballack 12. Mikel 8. Frank Lampard 21. Salomon Kalou

SUBS
40. Henrique Hilario (GK) 2. Branislav Ivanovic 9. Franco Di Santo 15. Florent Malouda 18. Ricardo Quaresma 19. Paulo Ferreira 35. Juliano Belletti

Wigan Athletic

25. Mario Melchiot 19. Titus Bramble 17. Emmerson Boyce 31. Maynor Figueroa

4. Lee Cattermole 11. Michael Brown 7. Paul Scharner 23. Olivier Kapo

13. Amr Zaki 14. Charles N'Zogbia

SUBS
22. Richard Kingson (GK) 3. Erik Edman 6. Antoine Sibierski 20. Hugo Rodallega 28. Tomasz Kupisz 38. Jonathon Routledge 40. Joe Holt

When we played them at the JJB, Cech pushed Boyce in their box and we didn't get a penalty which denied us a very good chance at a draw. This time it was Lampard's push on Melchiot to steal the winner that denied us.

You did deserve a point. Bramble was terrific and you dominated us for the first twenty minutes. Sometimes the difference comes in exceptional individual quality--and Frank has loads. Good luck in the rest of the season!
