'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Charlie Nicholas Feels for the Latics

Sky Sports Soccer pundit Charlie Nicholas thought that Wigan Athletic were unlucky not to get at least a point in todays game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea took the lead against the run of play on 25 minutes through a John Terry shot that took a wicked deflection off Emerson Boyces head but the Latics equalised with 8 minutes of the game remaining when Olivier Kapo turned in Maynor Figueroas cross at the near post and notched his first goal of the season.

With the game apparently running down to a draw Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard scored a header at the far post in the 91st minute of the game to give Chelsea the three points, Charlie Nicholas watched the game and then summarised as follows:

'I thought Wigan deserved something from the game. They played brilliantly for the first 25 minutes.

'John Terry was a bit fortunate for Emmerson Boyce's deflected goal but he will get it; a late goal for Kapo made it 1-1 and with eight minutes to go you are sitting there thinking Wigan deserve it.

'They played really well first-half; Chelsea had periods where they dominated - of course they did - but then Lampard strikes.'

'They were a bit fortunate today but as I say about every team as soon as fortune comes your way you have to grasp it and Chelsea have taken it again.'
