Wigan Athletic - Benitez Deal Done

Wigan Athletic have agreed a deal with Cristian Benitez to join the club in July according to reports coming out of South and Central America today.

Benitez helped his club, Santos Laguna, reach the Semi-Final of the CONCACAF Champions League this week by beating Montreal Impact 5-4 over two-legs, Benitez opened the scoring in Thursday nights game.

Speaking to the press in Mexico the Ecuador international said it was all agreed for him to join his international team mate Antonio Valencia at Wigan Athletic once the transfer window re-opens

It was expected that Benitez would join the Latics in January but a freak training ground accident left the striker with a broken leg and the deal had to be put on hold, but now he is back playing and scoring Benitez is all set to lead the Latics forward line next season.
