'If It's Football, It's Vital'

New Forward Line-Up For Next Season

Wigan Athletic are setting themselves up for another overhaul on the striker front with loanees the Egyptian pair of Zaki and Mido likely to be back with their parent clubs come the end of the season, Heskey (Aston Villa) has already left for pastures new so as Henri Camara (Stoke City) and Marlon King (Middlesbrough), so five of the six forwards used this season will have left the club come the end of June

One man certain to be around next season is Hugo Rodallega who is impressing manager Steve Bruce and the forthcoming arrival of Cristian 'Chucho` Benitez will add a Latin flavour and a new dimension to the Latics attack next season as the South American combo pair up for a Colombia/Ecuador front-line .

With another likely addition of Honduras international Hendry Thomas joining Spanish speakers Maynor Figueroa, Antonio Valencia, Hugo Rodallega and Chucho Benitez the club could be forgiven if they thought to change their name to Athletico Wigan.

Getting back to the forward line and neither Benitez nor Rodallega could be described as typical English style front-men, both are slight, quick and much better on the ground than in the air, so a change of playing style than that seen lately will also be required to help the new pairing gel.

Playing fast flowing football along the deck will be the way forward for the Latics next season add to that a Latin element and we could well be in with another memorable season down at the JJB.

its very sad that we may see no egyptians next season here, and its funny that u really think the club can play silky on ground football coz of the nationalities of the forwards!!...i think the problem of the ugly long ball style of play is more serious than that!

No I dont think we will play silky type football, that wa said tongue in cheek so to speak, what we need is stability in the playing staff and we havent had that since we were promoted to the Premier League

i think the right time to discuss and evaluate this is after the 38th premiership game, i still think zaki is the best striker we have and will turn out to be a good player for the club, just think if he had just scored his tenth league goal last game only not months back, he came with a bang and dissapeared, still i am sure he has the quality. cant forget his brace against liverpoorl.
