JJB Stadium Re-named The Inspirational DW Stadium

JJB Stadium Re-named The Inspirational DW Stadium

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has confirmed that the JJB Stadium will have a new name come the start of the 2009/10 football season and as from August 1st 2009 it will be known as the DW Stadium

What his new company DW Fitness are paying for this sponsorship hasn`t been mentioned, maybe because there is not any money being handed over, great marketing that chaps.

I've never understood the trend of sponsorship stadium names, it takes away the magic of the place. Names like Reebok or Emirates annoy me to no end. I believe that any stadium has its own 'personality', and that starts with the name.
