Spurs Look To Zaki to Spearhead New Season

Rumours abound that Wigan Athletic loanee Amr Zaki could be a target for Spurs once the current season is over.

The Egypt international is coming to the end of a season long loan from Cairo based club El Zamalek and following revelations this week that all is not well between Latics boss Steve Bruce and his leading goal scorer the possibility of a permanent deal being forged looks most unlikely.

The news that is coming out of Egypt suggests that Latics Premier League rivals Spurs are sniffing around and would like to take the player nicknamed the `bulldozer` to White Hart Lane in time for the new season.

Now whether this would be a permanent deal or another loan deal is uncertain but you can bet that there are a few twists to the Zaki saga yet to come and with Zaki still not back in England following last weeks World Cup qualifiers confirmation of any progress on his future (or present) is sketchy to say the least

no, he hasn't scored this year yet, after an explosive start to the season. I'm not sure why - maybe the Pie-men could enlighten us - but he looked a strong finisher at the start of the season imo, with superb technique. I'm convinced I don't want him though. He seems a bit arrogant to say the least in his lack of respect for Wigan and Steve Bruce, who imo as a fan, is a great guy, deserving of the player's respect. I don't want to see players that put themselves before the club coming to Spurs. They can be more trouble than they're worth. And the facts that he's gone over 3 months without scoring and been late back from international duty 4 times in one season, point to a very suspect temprament and attitude imo. No thanks!

No way, We have 4 good strikers and we dont need a arrogant player with a big head (metaphorically and literally) like him in our dressin room. Bent deserves to stay after his recent form and pav deserves another season with a rest and Robbie and defoe will certainly not be sold and taarabt and dos santos are also performing brilliantly in thier lone moves. So i dont see that we need another stiker, i dont see any truth in the rumor.

I think not. Look at spur's history with these egytion wannabie-football players. Whats more the player isn't even good. on top of that we have 4 players already better in that position. and sounds like all the other egyption with a bad atittude problem.

POP, why are you having a go at Spurs over this? It's media speculation at best. Although, historically, he is the kind of player that Redknapp would have gone for, I don't see who we are going to sell in order to make way for Zaki.

I think the complaints that were issued about zaki combined with him being benched and so doesn't only have to do with form or attitude but also with trying to reduce the transfer fee...and reduce competition for his signature....as it is confusing why wigan tell his agent if we make europe we will sign zaki...even after latest so called incident....if he was such a horrible player to have as steve bruce announced then why bother telling his agent that you would sign him....and if he is such a bad influence why keep him...just terminate his contract...you won't pay anything....

mmjnr, get a grip on reality son! Zaki will not now return to Zamalek next season, as they can't afford to match what he's about to be offered by other clubs and why on earth would any player accept the obscurity of playing African club football, when they could play in Italy, Spain or England? If you are a footballer, you are not one of the brighter ones!
