Zaki to Return For Showdown On Wednesday

Wigan Athletic and Egypt striker Amr Zaki is set to return to Wigan on Wednesday when he will meet with Steve Bruce for showdown talks over his future at the Latics.

Zaki will be accompanied by his agent, Nader Shawky, as they try to explain the happenings of the past few days and believe it or not Zaki still harbours a desire to make his move to Wigan a permanent one despite Newcastle United bidding £6 million to Zamalek on Saturday night.

Nader Shawky is trying to smooth over the troubles and told reporters:

'I had a phone conversation with Bruce Friday morning and am sure they still need to strike a permanent deal with Zaki'

Shawky feels the problem isn`t the fact that the Latics did or didn`t receive the medical report but more to do with Zaki not turning up on time from his international duties with Egypt, Shawky continued:

'I am working with my partner in the UK to solve the problem and am sure we will be met midway.

'Zaki's medical reports have been sent to Wigan. Obviously, Steve is angry at Zaki's absence - they [Wigan] wanted him to show on time, which he is absolutely right about.

'Bruce told me they need to get into the European arena and I am sure of Zaki's future with the Latics.'

Speaking on the matter Latics boss Steve Bruce confirmed that he had spoken to Zaki`s agent, Nader Shawky and said that he hoped to get the whole situation resolved and Bruce hinted that there maybe a problem with Zaki settling in the UK, Bruce said:

"We've had some contact with Zaki's agent who I have to say has been very respectful. But I find it just staggering that the club who pay his salary, and pay him very well too, and give him the chance in this country, have been shown so much disrespect.

"There's obviously a problem in him trying to settle over here. We won't know those problems until he comes back and I'll never shut the door fully on him. It's a real shame it's come to this, especially after the start he had.

"I just want to know what the situation is so that we can resolve it, but until he shows his face we won't know anything."

Lets hope this all gets sorted, following such a brilliant start to the season these last few days have left a sour taste, here`s hoping.

Sounds very much like both sides are looking for agreement. Not sure who would want Zaki based on his recent performances. I was really disappointed with his failure to return and the revelation that he'd messed us about a few times, but my gut feeling is that he's a good guy, and if he regains his form, I think we'll be very happy to take him on permanently.

Bruce was going to make it a permenant deal but when he realised that the egyptian club El Zamalek raised the deal to €12 million, our coach thought that he could make a plan of lowering his price by not making him play from the start so he couldn't score goals and appear in a bad condition and Bruce thought of making furious statements to the press about him to make sure that his price will be lowered and wigan could buy amr zaki because he is a great striker, and in my opinion I think that his plan is not bad and it is working. zaki made a statement saying that he respects the club and the fans and his team-mates, what is happening is just misunderstanding, zaki said that he didn't talk to bruce because he doesn't speak english good he said that he is bad in the language so he preferred that his agent talk to Bruce to explain the situation that Egyptian medical team preferred that he have a rest 3 weeks and the medical team sent a medical report about the case. Wigan medical team agreed that zaki take a rest and said to him that THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE TO HAVE REST IN EGYPT OR IN ENGLAND so he stayed in egypt but Bruce took the chance of not being delivered any scans of the injury and continued his plan by making furious statements of him by being unprofessional and doesn't respect the club. He also convinced Dave Whelan and Eric Black to make negative statements about zaki to support his point of view and make sure that his price will be lowered so that they could buy him cheaper. I hope that his plan works and he could buy amr zaki.

for those who don't know, zaki is a very good person, and the last thing that he'd want is to make troubles,he's faithful and i think he shows it at the field even if he doesn't score, and i also think that he proved what i said before about his team mates support,he got a chance to score at the last match with the egyptian national team, and so he scored!

May this be the end of this silly problem between zaki and wigan and hope tht they reach a mutual agreement as zaki has been feeling very unsecure at wigan lately specially after bieng left on the bench and his recent below par form and all the stories tht has been going on since ..i sincerely believe tht wigan is the best team for zaki to play for next season and i honsetly hope he is not lured by the fake offers tht has been rumeroed lately and has affected him ..all the ebst to both
