Vandanel To Run New Latics Shop

Wigan Athletic have announced that their new club shop, situated below the West Stand at the JJB Stadium will be run by Sports Kit manufacturers Vandanel

An official announcement on the clubs official website states the shop will be opened for business on Thursday 9th April at 2pm when Latics boss Steve Bruce will be on hand with some first team squad members to sign autographs

Along with Bruce and Latics players will be ex-Liverpool, Spurs and Wimbledon defender Neil Ruddock, who along with the Soccer Am cameras will no doubt be making a nuisance of themselves with some light hearted banter, cant wait.

On Saturday 11th April the club shop will be giving away 'clappers` to young supporters for use during the Arsenal game the same day, I look forward to a wonderful noisy afternoon.

Back to Vandanel and a not so guarded secret that the relatively unknown kit manufactures will be supplying the Latics new kit for season 2009/10 and will be showcasing the Latics along side Frickley Athletic, Cambridge United and Yeovil Town amongst others.

On top of this the sports wear minnows have been drafted in to run the club shop, Latics Commercial Director Paul Hunt, said: 'The introduction of the Club Shop is paramount to the ongoing success of Wigan Athletic Football Club. We welcome our partnership with Vandanel who, along with personnel at the Club, have worked tirelessly to get this project to fruition and they should be applauded for it.'

Whilst Neil Burke, Managing Director of Vandanel comments, ''Vandanel are delighted to be involved with Wigan Athletic as both retail partners and technical kit suppliers. We have invested a great deal of time and capital into this project of which we feel both the Club and supporters deserve. This is a great flagship for the Vandanel brand as a whole and would like to thank all involved especially David Whelan, Brenda Spencer and Paul Hunt for their continued support'.

Well we now have our club shop and I look forward to the opening with glee, see you all there Thursday afternoon.

It means that technically they're our kit suppliers - but in effect we're reverting the old days when players knitted their own jerseys. Actually, I think that would be a good thing...
