Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce has once again been singing the praises of Mido, the striker he has taken on loan from Middlesbrough and Bruce has also hinted that he`d like to make the deal a permanent one.
When the Egypt international arrived at the Latics he wasn`t fit, he`d not played for a while and had gained a few extra pounds as a result, but he`s worked hard on the training pitch and this is starting to pay off
On Saturday Mido was only on the pitch for a hour before having to leave due to concussion but he was still named Latics man of the match for his performance and many commentators agreed that if he`d have stayed on the pitch then Latics might well have gone on to win the game.
There is no doubting Mido`s talent, it has been his temperament over the years that has been put into question, but maybe he has been looking for his spiritual home and a boss who has complete faith in him just like Bruce has and just maybe he`s found it.
Bruce certainly would love to bring the enigmatic Egyptian to the club, he`s chased him for almost three years, since he was at Birmingham and now he`s got him on loan it would be hard for Bruce to let him go back, Bruce told reporters:
'By the time Mido gets 100% fit the season will be over, but he's certainly getting fitter.
'We'll have to sit down at some point, see where Boro are and what their situation is regarding Mido.
'They have Marlon King - who is our player - on loan, so when the time is right we'll have a conversation.
'I think you can see why I like Mido. He's trained hard since he's come here, done everything he possibly can to get fitter.
'His fitness levels are getting better, and the way he led the line against Arsenal was terrific.
'If he continues playing like that, of course we'd be interested in taking him, but he's still a Middlesbrough player.'
The player himself is loving his time at the JJB and would really like to make the switch from the Riverside a permanent one, Mido said: 'I'm enjoying it here, I'm working hard and getting back to my best.
'It's good working with Steve Bruce and Eric Black, and if I'm being honest, I would love to be here next season.
'It's a bit too early to talk about that because we don't know what is going to happen at Middlesbrough.
'I really hope that Boro stay in the Premier League for everyone's sake there - they are great people.'
