Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce say he is determined not to let the season just 'fizzle away` but he is concerned with some areas of the team and following the Hull City victory a few weeks back he reckons h detected something.
What ever that 'something` was could be seen by all in the Everton and Arsenal games where the Latics just fell away, more so at home to Arsene Wengers side, leading the game with a comfortable 1-0 lead we got to the hour mark and then capitulated.
People will say that`s when Mido went off but there were just too many players in the team who switched off when that happened, like the fight had gone.
Bruce says that he is addressing this and using all the technology available to do so, with just six games left this season it would be a pity to end with a damp squib one that started so promisingly, Bruce told reporters:
'You could say it was Everton and Arsenal, but we fell way short of the standards we have set ourselves over the last 18 months or so, and that upsets me'
'The one thing I am determined to do is to not let the season fizzle away. We have done extremely well this season and I just detected something after the Hull game.
'Getting through that magical 40-point mark, everybody was talking about how well we'd done and the fact we were safe again.
'Last year it took us until the penultimate game of the season, and the year before it was the very last kick of the season to be safe, and I just want to take the club away from that mentality.
'We know our limitations at Wigan, and we know we are punching above our weight, but we have to make sure we try and finish the season off as strongly as we possibly can.
'With technology today, you can analyse everything and everybody, and there are certain things we have tried to address and put in place, but the proof of the pudding will be in the eating.
'We will have to show what we're about again, and we have six games in which to do it. Can we go on and finish in the top half? That, for me, would be quite an achievement.'
