Bruce plans summer swoop for Vassell?

Sources close to Wigan Athletic report that Wigan tried to sign Vassell last summer but the player chose to fight for his place at Man City.

However the new owners at Eastlands are believed to favour a drastic overhaul of the squad and Vassell is one of those who have been earmarked to be sold.

Vassell who is twenty eight years old and can play on the wing or as a supporting striker,is a former England international, who has scored six goals for his national side and averages a goal every five games in the Premier League.

City, it is beleived will look to recoup the two million pounds that they paid for him in 2005 , a price which fits in well with Wigan's fiscal policy regarding signings.

Sad to see him go... great guy and he always gives his all. His time at City is up though.

You could do a lot worse than Vassell. He's not been overly prolific in front of goal, but he's a true pro and you'd be getting him at his peak, and for a bargain price.
