'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Forget United Concentrate on Us

Why is it that every time we play Manchester United all the clichés come out?

We have Latics owner Dave Whelan apparently flogging off our manager "When Ferguson does finally retire, Steve Bruce has got to be in the running to take over," Whelan said.

"Manchester United want certain qualities and Steve Bruce has got every single quality."

Ok, hows about Wigan Athletic want certain qualities and at the moment one of those qualities needs to be motivation so that we can halt an almighty slide that we have found ourselves in or one thing is for sure, we`ll be carrying this form in to the new season.

'Bigging up` the opposition just might be part of the psychology of the modern day and I am not privy to what is going on behind the scenes with the players but as a supporter of the Latics I want to hear some different noises coming out of my football club.

Bruce says prior the game, "They are a fabulous team and we have to be at our best"

Really?

Why not "To roll over aagainst West Brom wasn`t acceptable and I will make sure that is the last time that happens at this football club"

It is quite unbelievable what has happened this season, from a place of strength in the table, 7th and deservedly so to a team that is just making up the numbers.

Manchester United are the best in the Premier League, we all know that and don`t need reminding, what I want to know is how hard Bruce is kicking backside of our highly paid underachievers

I read with dismay that Olivier Kapo could be in the starting line-up for tonights game, never in a million years should this fellow be anywhere near our club, he has publicly stated that he hates being at the Latics and cant wait to get away and his performances on the field suggest to me that he is a Championship level player at best.

Now Bruce has gone public over Amr Zaki so why not over this Kapo affair?

Also, we appear to be giving the ghost up in the second half of games these days, we capitulated against Everton, Arsenal, West Brom and to some extent Bolton, though they are awful themselves and couldn`t capitalise what is the management team doing about this?

So stop bigging up the opposition and get back to basics Mr Bruce and Mr Whelan and get your eye back on us before concerning yourselves with sucking up to Fergie and co.
