Wigan face the unenviable task of having to face up to and get something from Man Utd. Personally, I do not think that's going to happen but as long as we do not disgrace ourselves to Man Utd, I'll be happy. That said, I don't think its going to be easy for the Red Devils. Games in the past have always been tight against Man Utd when Steve Bruce has gone up against Sir Alex Ferguson.
However, the only team in the league that Wigan have never taken a point from is Man Utd since their promotion to the league though they've come agonisingly close over the last meetings between the teams. From the point of view of Man Utd, there is no better team to play since Utd have beaten Wigan on every occasion.
Will there be a twist tonight? One thinks not. Utd are a formidable force against any team and for me, they've had their slip ups already against Liverpool and Fulham - now its back to the good old days for them and three points is an absolute must for Utd tonight which is why I think they'll see it through - uncomfortably mind.
Ronaldo will be the inspiration behind the team. I think he will get the vital goal from a free kick and that will more or less seal the title and ensure it returns to Old Trafford. Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal have gone off the boil and there's just something about Man Utd which makes them, from a neutral's point of view, more than worthy of the titles they've picked up in successive years.
That aside, will they be worried about the champions league final against Barca? Maybe. My logic is Ferguson will bring on the big guns, try and get the vital goal or goals and then take the players off and put on substitutes to rest the big guns before the vital clash against Barca. Team selections will be interesting but he won't want his big guns injured either and Brown and Cattermole are more than capable of delivering an intensity in their tackling.
The talking point of the game besides the premier title is Luis Valencia - will he go to Man Utd? With other teams sniffing around, Man Utd might be forced to come up with a package that will be too difficult to resist as might Valencia's other suitors. This could be the biggest news in Wigan's history, the possible sale of Luis Valencia.
WIGAN: PLAYER TO WATCH: VALENCIA
He needs to prove to Utd why he is worth the transfer and I think he'll deliver a good show tonight. Expect a goal from Luis, I think.
MAN UTD: PLAYER TO WATCH: RONALDO
Not many will ever see a player of his calibre again. Just amazing, really. I think he'll play a pivotal part in Utd's likely victory tonight.
Wigan will not make it easy. Man Utd won't make it easy either. One team fighting for the title. One team playing for pride. Is there going to be a twist? I don't think there will be but I do think it could be a fantastic game. I hope its the night we finally get something off Man Utd but it all depends, really, on a number of things. The lure of the title will work in Utd's favour. Tight game with a positive outcome for the away team despite a spirited display from the home team. Man Utd will be champions once more, I think, but its also nothing less than they deserve.
Wigan 1 Man Utd 2
Valencia to score for the Latics and a Ronaldo goal and a Rooney goal to propel Man U to the title.
ROB'S FINAL THOUGHT
Will Man U win the champions league? I don't think they will. They'll be a very stern test for Barca but something just tells me Barca will win this one 1-0. Lionel Messi to score. If Man U win, it would be great for the country, but I've a feeling the trophy will be going to Barca.
Good luck though to Man Utd!
