Wigan Athletics decision not to take up the option on Amr Zaki has seen the Egypt striker claim that it was infact him that turned down the Latics for 'better` offers from four Premier League clubs
Zaki says through his spokesman Mohamed Saied that 'four clubs have made solid bids` and that the 26 year old is likely to stay in the Premier League with Blacburn and Sunderland leading the chase.
Saied says:'Four Premier League clubs have made solid bids for Zaki - all offering him higher wages than Wigan.'
Latics boss Steve Bruce tells a much different story saying that Zaki has been listening to the 'wrong` people and he declares that Wigan Athletic have written to Zamalek informing them that they wont take up any option to sign the striker.
Zaki has gone missing in four occasions this season and Bruce has left him out of the side on a regular basis since the turn of the year, Bruce said at the weekend:
'He had big personal problems in his life, you'd have to ask Zaki why he chose to go down the path he did.'
The real truth of the matter is that the whole sage has turned sour, from a fantastic start something appears to have effected Zaki and the fall away in his form has been dramatic.
Where ever he ends up next season one thing is for sure Amr Zaki will not be forgotten for the way he exploded on to the scene at Wigan Athletic
