Mike Pollitt Agrees New Latics Deal

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Mike Pollitt has agreed a new deal at the club and he is hoping to get the chance to sign it before he packs his bags for his holidays.

Pollitt joined the Latics in the summer of 2005 from Rotherham United and he is longest serving member of the first team squad.

The Bolton born keeper says:

'I've agreed a contract, now it's just a case of getting it signed. I'm hoping it can all be done before I go away on holiday.

'It wasn't a difficult decision to make, it probably took all of 30 seconds, and more or less it's the same contract I've been on this season. I wasn't in a position to go in and ask for stupid money. I'm the number two keeper, so I had to be sensible.

'Of course I would have liked to have played a few more games, any player would think the same, but it's still good to be involved in the squad. I'm at a Premier League club and the chance of still having the opportunity to play games at this level is worth hanging about for.

'I waited a long time to get to The Premier League after being in the lower divisions so I'd be reluctant to leave. From a family point of view, I don't live far away and the kids are settled at school, so being here suits me.'
